Now for Android users, too.

After the response to last year’s GPS tracking of the 765, the FWRHS decided to invest in a dedicated smartphone app for iPhone and Android. After several months of designing, developing, and testing we’re proud to announce that the iPhone and Android versions are now available, with the Android version to follow within a few days. Development of the app was paid in part for by a grant from the Dailey Foundation. Desktop users can still track the 765 online here.

The app, “NKP 765″ features real-time GPS location of the locomotive and its excursion routes keep up to date with the FWRHS with built in Twitter feeds, News and Event page, and a subscription to the railroad historical society’s monthly email newsletter.

All proceeds will benefit the ongoing maintenance and operation of Nickel Plate Road no. 765 and railroad preservation activities. Read more →
